Enameled on copper in Bilston, Staffordshire, England, this 1 1/2″ diameter hand painted enamel box from Halcyon Days was issued in 1976 as a special commission to commemorate the Bicentennial of the United States.
The lid features a finely detailed image of Betsy Ross’s house. Inside the lid reads: ” Betsy Ross House, Philadelphia PA., Birthplace of Old Glory. Here, in 1776, Betsy Ross was commissioned to make the first American Flag.” Bilston & Battersea backstamp.
This treasure comes nestled in its velvet lined presentation case.
